Farewell continued

and I would rather take this opportunity to share what I have learned and to express my heartfelt thank you to the people responsible.  Participating in this organization has taught me more about myself than I had ever dreamed possible.  It’s hard to explain the phenomenon of growing up, but I can humbly admit that I have done a lot of it over this past year and have realized that growing up is not something that happens in the classroom alone.  This program has tested my own levels of determination by challenging me to be the best person I can possibly be in all aspects of my life.  I finally know how important it is to have positive influences and role models around us.  Over the past year, this organization has allowed me to be the student, and to meet and learn from many positive role models who have deeply affected my life.  Kathi and Glenn Baldwin-Your constant support from before the moment the crown was placed upon my head, and loving gifts all throughout my reign,  gave me the confidence to push myself further and hold my head higher at Miss California.  Sharon & Patrick-The “infamous duo”-this program would not be the same without your wisdom, guidance, and advice. I truly appreciate the countless hours you have spent with me. Jocelyn and Karen-Thank you for making me look my absolute best; the beauty of my wardrobe compares nothing to the beauty of your hearts.  Miss Paige- Thank you for helping me put my “big girl” pants on J.  Sabrina-You’re awesome for showing me how to “sizzle” on stage for opening number and Mary B-Your advice and experience are priceless.  To my Sister Queen, awesome roomie and friend, Jamie Gerhardt, it was destiny that our paths have crossed into a friendship that I will always treasure.  I wouldn’t have wanted to share this experience with anyone else but you.  Mikayla and Elizabeth-My little teens, you both share a very special place in my heart and I really hope to see you compete at the Miss level in a few years.  Lynda Krinke-Thank you for taking the time to help me whenever I needed it and for coming to Fresno for just one night.  It was so great to see you and Jordan.  Jeff Gerhardt-Your talent is remarkable and the special shoes you have made me will forever be cherished.

Yorba Linda Fitness Success-Thank you for helping make my dream a reality! To my family-Ma, Baba, Sharthak, Nani and Dadai-There is a saying: In time of test, family is best.  You have constantly been that pillar and I appreciate all that you do.  Rakhi, my best friend, you have always been at my side in every adventure and to Rajeev, you believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself.  It is you who are the strong one; thank you.  To the contestants, I hope you have realized that participating in this program is about much more than crowns and gowns.  It’s about challenging yourself and sharing your strengths as an intelligent, promising young woman.  Remember that all of you are beautiful and that no one needs a crown to prove it.  To Miss Yorba Linda 2011- work hard and learn much; I know I did.

 God Bless,

Sharanya Mukhopadhyay
