The year of 2010 was a compilation of an amazing series of changes in my life. As a senior at Valencia High School, I danced for my final year as Captain of my school dance team as well as competing with Dance Precisions studio. after all of my AP tests and a few college courses from California state University Dominguez Hills, I was accepted into Azusa Pacific University with sophomore standing. I was selected as my high school graduation's commencement speaker, and during this time I was also preparing for the Miss California Pageant. This preparation consisted of mock interviews, full weekends of shopping, working out daily with a personal trainer, current event reviews, walking

practices, and talent rehearsals. The Miss California pageant was an
experience that I will never forget thanks to the awesome titleholders
that are part of this organization (not to mention my fabulous
roommate.) Following the pageant I experienced a life-changing trip to
the Philippines, only to move into my new college dorm room the morning
after my return. After a hectic adjustment to dorm life, I somehow
managed straight A's from my first semester of college while being a
proud member of APU Cheer Squad and attending fun events through out the
City of Placentia simultaneously. I realize that few 18 year olds have
had the opportunity to learn the lessons that I have from speaking with
a variety of people-from a forth grade class to our United States war
veterans. And that is the life that encompasses your Miss Placentia
2010. These are the memories I will never forget. through all of the
hard work I managed to have the time of my life doing it, but none of
this would have been possible with out the exceptional support system
that I have been blessed with.
First and foremost I'd like to
thank my family. You have been there every step of the way-whether
Amanda and Michelle were the loudest voices in the crowd, dad was sewing
on my point shoe ribbons, or mom was answering all of my emails and
planning out my schedule, I could have never done any of it without your
help and guidance. I love you all.
It is hard to believe that my journey with the Miss Placentia committee has come to an end after two consecutive years with this family. and when I say "family" I mean that word in its entirety. Glenn And Kathi Baldwin, Jocelyn and Paige Williams, Mary Bette, Karen Urell, Patrick and Sharon Cordes, Lyn Sylvius, and Sabrina Anderson-I can't thank you enough for all of your love and support. The selfless work that you put into this organization amazes me" you are the royalty in my eyes. Thank you for being a part of creating the person that I am today.
Sharanya Mukhopadhyay, Miss Yorba Linda 2010, you are simply amazing. you have a heart of gold to go along with all of your brains, beauty, and talent, and it has been such a blessing to have you in my life. Thank you for the laughs, the spray tans, the Justin Bieber songs, and for becoming a sister and a friend. Mikayla Thornley and Elizabeth Luper, my two teens, you have been so much fun this year! I have loved dressing you up, sharing laughs at events, and sharing my experiences with you-but most of all I loved cheering you on at the state pageant. you made me so proud and I see fabulous thing to come in you future. continued next column-

you for this journey of a lifetime. Take advantage of every moment

woman wearing it." I'm proud to be who I am because of this organization
