I cannot express how extremely appreciative and thankful I am to have
such a wonderful family, pageant committee, city and fellow friends and
colleagues who have supported me throughout my journey in this
organization. In addition, The Miss Placentia
Organization has supported me in my journey as a title holder for three
years. I first became involved with the organization as Miss Placentia’s
Outstanding Teen and was soon after crowned Miss California’s
Outstanding Teen. With my state title, I was fortunate to compete at the
Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant in Orlando, Florida. As an
incoming freshman at Chapman University I soon realized how much I
missed the Miss Placentia committee and the opportunities for
scholarship that they offered. Within the participation of this
scholarship program, the Miss America Organization has allowed me to
raise approximately $12,000 to pursue my education as a Bachelor of
Science in Sports Medicine and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. As Miss
Placentia 2009, I have learned the true definition of the word, family.
The title has exposed me to unique events, opportunities, experiences,
as well as introduce me to a wide variety of audiences and volunteers.
It was these occasions that taught me the importance of family. The Miss
Placentia Committee joins together to provide a life-long learning
program for young women to fundraise, discover self-confidence, expand
global perceptions of our nation, as well as grant the aspiring women
opportunities to attend college by offering scholarships.
Listed here are many aspects of this organization that I will never forget: I have been afforded so many
magnificent experiences that I would not have originally pursued through my education, my memories at the Miss California Pageant, numerous city events and functions and lastly the recent development of my mother’s fight against Breast Cancer. In this recent development, the Miss Placentia Pageant committee has helped me in every way imaginable. Upon her diagnosis, members joined together to provide long hours of advice, conversations of support, delivered hot lunches and dinners, and lastly empowered my mom to fight against her disease. The Miss Placentia committee has truly spoken volumes through their efforts to provide support and love for my family. These past few months have been extremely difficult, but the committee was there for me every step of the way. As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” So, thank you to Kathi Baldwin and her family, Jocelyn Williams and Karen Urell for enabling me to believe that the future always holds something more beautiful and exciting. Thank you to all of the Miss Placentia Committee members and the numerous volunteers that support our program! The impact you have had on my life cannot even be put into words, I am eternally grateful.
