I can still hear the words ringing in my head as I was announced the new Miss Placentia for the year 2004. After the shock had subsided I was ready and thrilled for my new position. Throughout this past year I have had the honor of attending various city functions as well as representing the city at Miss California. The two weeks that I spent in Fresno were filled with everlasting memories i shall never forget. As well as making lifelong friends, my experience up at miss California taught me that I am capable of more than I could have ever fathomed and pushed me to my limits.
I had thought it to be just a typical beauty pageant. However, I came to realize that it wasn't about appearance and how well you could be a girl. It is about expressing yourself and personal growth. It is about learning who you are and what you are capable of. This program takes young ladies and transforms them into well spoken, independent women who are beautiful inside and out. I am coming out of this experience not as a girl, but as a woman who can present herself with confidence and courage. - Stephanie Chao
